Russia Passes Law To Take Control Of Foreign Airplanes Left In Country

Russia on Monday passed a law allowing the country’s airlines to re-register planes that had been leased from abroad in an attempt to bypass Western sanctions.

The bill, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, is intended to support domestic flights in Russia and “to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of activities in the field of civil aviation.”

Lawmaker Pressure On Biden Hits Its Limits

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have repeatedly been steps ahead of the Biden administration in calling to escalate the U.S. response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine — proposals the White House ultimately adopted.

But they may be about to meet the fruit-bearing limits of their pressure campaigns.

The House is set to vote this week on legislation to revoke Russia’s normal trade status, just days after approving a ban on Russian oil imports, which the Biden administration had initially resisted.

It's such a rare occasion for astronomers to detect an asteroid before it impacts the Earth that only 4 asteroids had been spotted before they entered the Earth's atmosphere: 2008 TC3, 2014 AA, 2018 LA, and 2019 MO. But now, it's been 5 with the discovery of 2022 EB5.

On March 11th, the astronomer Krisztián Sárneczky observed a small rocky object using the Schmidt telescope at the Piszkésteto Mountain Station. It was 2 hours later when it crashed into Earth’s atmosphere north of Iceland.

Wisconsin To Cull 2.7 Million Chickens After US Food Officials Find Outbreak Of Bird Flu

An entire flock of 2.75 million egg-laying chickens in the US state of Wisconsin will be killed to prevent the spread of a lethal form of bird flu, officials said on Monday.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it had found a concerning strain of avian flu at a commercial chicken farm in the Midwest state, about 50 miles west of Milwaukee.

They said all the farm's chickens would be destroyed in order to prevent any contamination of the human food chain.

Man With Criminal History In Wisconsin Charged For Shooting At Man In Springfield

Prosecutors have charged man accused of shooting at another man in Springfield earlier this month.

Walter Weatherspoon, 37, is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with a Springfield shooting investigation from March 8. Weatherspoon also has a lengthy criminal history in Wisconsin, according to court records.

AG Kaul Files Lawsuit Against Johnson Controls, Inc. And Tyco Fire Products For PFAS Violations

Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Monday that the Wisconsin Department of Justice has filed a civil environmental enforcement lawsuit against Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) and Tyco Fire Products LP (Tyco) for alleged violations of the state’s hazardous substance spills law related to discharges of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

According to the complaint, JCI and Tyco violated the state spills law when they failed to notify the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of a PFAS discharge and failed to remediate PFAS contamination at and around the Fire Technology Center in Marinette, Wisconsin.

As Pandemic Wanes, Evers Thanks Essential Workers, Health Staff, National Guard

Early in the pandemic the phrase "health care heroes" was used to laud those on the front lines. Now that the pandemic has loosened its grip on Wisconsin, that term is once again being used to show appreciation.
