The Defense Production Act, enacted in 1950, authorizes the president to require companies to sign contracts or fill orders for products needed for the nation's defense. It also lets the president make sure price gouging doesn't occur and gives the president freedom to incentivize the expanded production, with loans and purchase commitments.

The documents and the analysis, which don’t show what he did to earn millions from his Chinese partners, raise questions about national security, business ethics and potential legal exposure. In December 2020, Biden acknowledged in a statement that he was the subject of a federal investigation into his taxes. NBC News was first to report that an ex-business partner had warned Biden he should amend his tax returns to disclose $400,000 in income from the Ukrainian firm, Burisma. GOP congressional sources also say that if Republicans take back the House this fall, they’ll demand more documents and probe whether any of Biden’s income went to his father, President Joe Biden.

Ford Recalls SUVs Due To Engine Fire Risk

Ford is asking the owners of 350,000 vehicles in to take them to dealers for repairs in three recalls, including about 39,000 that should be parked outdoors because the engines can catch fire.

Ford says in U.S. government documents posted Thursday that it doesn't know what's causing fires in some 2021 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.

Three Suspects Charged In Water Street Mass Shooting, Accused Of Causing Shootout

Three more men have been charged in the May 13 mass shooting on Water Street following the Milwaukee Bucks' Game 6. Prosecutors claim these suspects' actions resulted in 16 people being shot and injured.

Marquise Lamar Jackson, 24, Christopher Lamar Murry, 23, and Lemont R. Siller, 21, are each facing eight charges in connection to the incident.

Health Professionals Continue To Call Attention To Growing Mental Health Crises Among Children

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing more children to experience mental health crises that lead to emergency room visits in Wisconsin and other states, health professionals say.

Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee created a grant-funded crisis response team in 2020. Allison McCool, director of social work for the hospital, said they initially expected to treat around 800 kids annually. Instead, the team had seen around 1,400 last year.

Wisconsin DMV Debuts Redesigned Lac Courte Oreilles License Plate

​The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) now offers a license plate redesign for the Lac Courte Oreilles Chippewa Band of Lake Superior Indians of Wisconsin. This is the first redesign since the Tribe began issuing license plates in 2010.

The new design features the name of the tribe, its emblem and “Pride of the Objibwe.”

DATCP To Survey For Spongy Moth In 47 Counties

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) will be setting more than 10,000 traps for spongy moth, formerly known as gypsy moth, in 47 counties from mid-May through early June. DATCP requests that property owners allow trappers access to place traps and not disturb the traps once in place.
