Surgeon General Demands Warning Label On Social Media Apps

Surgeon General Vivek Murthy in an op-ed in the New York Times Monday said the threat social media poses to children requires urgent action, and he demanded Congress to put a label on the apps as with cigarettes and alcohol.

“The mental health crisis among young people is an emergency — and social media has emerged as an important contributor,” Murthy said in his op-ed.

Moore To Pardon 175,000 Marijuana Convictions In Maryland

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D) will be issuing a mass pardon for more than 175,000 marijuana convictions on Monday.

The pardons will be one of the country’s biggest acts of clemency involving the drug that’s now widely used recreationally.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Moore said it will be a step to heal decades of social and economic injustice that disproportionately harmed people of color.

The NEW Manufacturing Alliance recently released its latest Industry 4.0 Talent & Technology study, building on previous surveys conducted in 2019 and 2021 exploring the use of these technologies. The latest survey was conducted by Appleton’s St. Norbert College between January and March of this year using an online survey instrument, which got responses from 72 business leaders in the region.

Columbia Co. Sheriff: Driver Arrested For OWI After Driving Into Lake Wisconsin

A driver was arrested for his first OWI offense after crashing into Lake Wisconsin on Thursday night, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports.

At about 11 p.m., the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call regarding a report of a vehicle that crashed into the water at Highway 113 Ferry Crossing in the Town of West Point.

Risk Of Pavement Buckling Rises With Temperatures

Warmer temperatures forecast throughout Wisconsin over the next several days could create conditions for pavement buckling. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is advising motorists to be alert and take extra caution.
