The Nikkei index fell 4,451.28 points to 31,458.42. It dropped 5.8% on Friday and has now logged its worst two-day decline ever, dropping 18.2% in the last two trading sessions.

Officials Recover Body Discovered In Lake Winnebago

A male body was recovered from the shores of a boat launch in Winnebago County just off Highway 45 Friday evening.

According to Lieutenant Craig Quick with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, at around 6:30 p.m., officials responded to Fahrney Point Boat Ramp in the Town of Black Wolf at Kalbus County Harbor Campground for a report of a body discovered by boaters floating in the water.

Public Testing Of Voting Equipment Can Begin Saturday

The Wisconsin Elections Commission is reminding media members and the public that the window for public testing of electronic voting equipment for the Aug. 13 Partisan Primary Election commences on Saturday, Aug. 3. Testing must occur prior to Election Day.

Who Gets To Decide How Federal Money For Wisconsin Is Spent?

Usually, only about 20% of Wisconsin’s voters cast a ballot in primary elections, like the one on Aug. 13. Voters in that election will not only choose candidates — they’ll also see two questions that will require a yes or no answer.

These two questions are about amending the state constitution and need to be approved by more than 50% of voters. Constitutional amendments approved by voters become state law, but they differ from regular bills passed by the state Legislature because the governor cannot veto them.

Man Facing Several Charges After A Two-Hour Long Standoff With Police

The Madison Police Department shared on Facebook the items that were confiscated from a man following a standoff that lasted several hours on top of a stranger's roof on Wednesday.

According to the post, 30-year-old Patrick T. Bishop initially escaped police during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon near McKenna Blvd. and Park Heights Court, then later ran from officers when they approached him at a nearby apartment.

Wisconsin Lumber Facility Closes Permanently, 48 Employees Terminated

Gladstone’s Besse Forest Products announced Friday that one of its Wis. locations is closing its doors effective immediately.

Besse Forest Products, Inc.’s Goodman Veneer and Lumber facility, located at 200 C Avenue, Goodman, Wis., will additionally terminate 48 employees.

The company says there are no bumping or transfer rights to other jobs or locations. None of the affected employees are represented by a collective bargaining representative.
