More Migrants Arrive In NYC From Texas, David Paterson Calls Strategy ‘Brilliant’

Another busload of border-crossers from Texas arrived in the Big Apple on Sunday morning — as a top city official ripped the Lone Star State governor’s policy and a former New York gov called it “brilliant.”

Thirty-one mask-wearing, young-adult migrants got off a white bus about 7 a.m. at Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal amid the ongoing public war of words between GOP Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Dem Mayor Eric Adams’ administration about the bussed border-crossers.

City Hall’s head of Immigrant Affairs, Manuel Castro, on Sunday said the latest “bus full of asylum seekers coming from Texas” was part of a shameful “political ploy.

It’s a Fox primary of sorts, with Republicans hoping to get favorable airtime and attention on a network that has boosted GOP hopefuls in the past.

The efforts to get attention on Fox are especially important ahead of an open primary where a host of potential candidates will be vying for space — and where former President Trump will be a heavyweight.

FBI And DHS Warn Of Increased Threats To Law Enforcement And Government Officials After Mar-A-Lago Search

Federal authorities are warning of an increase in threats to law enforcement officials following the FBI's search of former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.

The threats, which are "occurring primarily online and across multiple platforms, including social media sites, web forums, video sharing platforms, and image boards," were identified by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the days following the FBI's authorized seizure of 11 sets of classified documents from the former president's home, including four sets that were classified "top secret," according to the unsealed search warrant.

Instead, after the collapse of the U.S.-backed administration of Ashraf Ghani, the Taliban introduced policies that “form a system of repression that discriminates against women and girls in almost every aspect of their lives,” according to a recent report from Amnesty International that said the “suffocating crackdown against Afghanistan’s female population is increasing day by day.”

Officer Involved Critical Incident Investigation In Appleton, Wis.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved critical incident (OICI) in the City of Appleton, Wis. that occurred on the evening of Friday, August 12, 2022.

At approximately 7:22 p.m., Appleton Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on the 1500 block of N. Birchwood Ave. in Appleton, Wis. Officers arrived and confronted a male subject who was armed with a handgun. Officers attempted negotiations with the subject. Officers later discharged their firearms, striking the male. The subject was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

A firearm was recovered at the scene and body camera footage captured the incident.

Six years ago, David Spector bought an 80-year old house perched on a 120-foot bluff that provided a panoramic view of Lake Michigan’s endless horizon.

But that priceless view may cost Spector more than he could have imagined as ongoing shoreline erosion edges his house ever closer to the bluff’s precipice and crashing waves below.

Spector, who works in real estate, knows it’s only a matter of time until the bluff gives way and his home will be gone.

"It’s such a beautiful view. It makes up for some of the heartache," he said.

The Great Lakes collectively hold 20 percent of the world’s surface fresh water, and Lake Michigan is the second-largest of those lakes by volume.

Vos Fires Gableman After Former Justice Endorsed Primary Opponent

Speaker Robin Vos announced today he has fired Michael Gableman as special counsel to the Assembly.

The move comes three days after the Rochester Republican beat back a primary challenge by Adam Steen, who Gableman had endorsed.

The move brings to a close an investigation that lasted more than a year and has cost taxpayers more than $1 million. Taxpayers also could be on the hook for $260,000 in legal fees for the group that sued to obtain records from the former Supreme Court justice’s probe.
