Israel Says Hamas Leader Killed On Third Day Of West Bank Operation
The Israeli military says it has killed the head of the Palestinian armed group Hamas in Jenin and two other fighters, as a major operation continues for a third day in the north of the occupied West Bank.
Israeli security forces "encountered and eliminated" Wissam Khazem in a vehicle and then carried out air strikes on “two additional terrorists while they attempted to flee”, a statement said.

Vos Recall Committees Spent More Than $1.3 Million On Unsuccessful Efforts
Two groups that tried unsuccessfully to recall Assembly Speaker Robin Vos spent nearly $1.3 million through June 30 with more than half of the money going to “solicitation expenses,” a WisPolitics review finds.
The bulk of those payments went to individuals, including those who organized the recall efforts.
The campaign finance reports — filed more than a month late — also show the two committees raised more than $1.3 million through the end of June with most of that coming from an Arkansas philanthropist.

Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that John A. Maser, 35, Madison, Wisconsin, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 4 months in federal prison for attempting to possess fentanyl intended for distribution. Maser pleaded guilty to this charge on April 11, 2024. The prison term will be followed by 5 years of supervised release.
The government’s investigation revealed a large-scale drug trafficking organization that was responsible for bringing over 4 kilograms of fentanyl pills into Madison from Arizona. Law enforcement began investigating the organization in January 2022, following the seizure of two mail packages that each contained one kilogram of fentanyl pills. The packages had been mailed by an individual in Arizona to addresses in Madison.
