BURNETT COUNTY -- The Court has ordered a Webster, WI man to serve his sentence for 8th Offense Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) consecutively to a sentence that he is already serving for a conviction of 7th Offense OWI.
DrydenWire published a post in March 2019 stating that Ronald Hart, of Webster, WI, was facing charges for OWI 7th Offense following a traffic stop on February 27, 2019.
An Officer for the Siren Police Department stopped Hart’s vehicle after observing it traveling over 20 miles per hour over the speed limit of 30 miles per hour. The Officer saw an open twelve-pack of Miller Genuine Draft beer in the vehicle and asked Hart how much he had to drink. Hart responded, “Enough”, according to the criminal complaint filed against him. Hart was taken into custody and at a hearing on February 28, 2019, the Court placed him on a $250 cash bond. Charges of Class F Felony OWI 7th Offense and Misdemeanor Operating While Revoked were filed against Hart. A charge of Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration 7th Offense was added later.
While Hart’s Burnett County OWI charges were still pending in Burnett County Circuit Court, online circuit court records show that Hart was charged again with Operating While Intoxicated in Barron County Circuit Court in January 2020 regarding an incident that occurred on December 31, 2019.
Details of that incident are not known at the time of this post, however, Hart was charged with Class F Felony OWI 7th Offense; Misdemeanor Operating While Revoked; Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration 7th Offense; and two counts of Class H Felony Bail Jumping.
Online records show that in September 2020, Hart entered pleas of Guilty to his charges in both Barron County Circuit Court and Burnett County Circuit Court. In Barron County, the Court accepted Hart’s guilty plea at a hearing on September 15, 2020, and found Hart guilty of OWI 7th Offense. In Burnett County, the Court accepted Hart’s guilty plea on September 28, 2020, and found him guilty of OWI 8th Offense.
Hart appeared for a sentencing hearing in November 2020 in Barron County Circuit Court. The Court ordered a 6-year sentence for Hart; 3 years of initial confinement in state prison followed by 3 years of extended supervision.
Hart was originally scheduled to be sentenced in Burnett County Circuit Court in December 2020, however, the hearing was adjourned numerous times. Details for the reason that the hearing was adjourned are not listed in online court records.
Hart recently appeared via Zoom for a sentencing hearing in Burnett County Circuit Court. The Court ordered a 7-year sentence for Hart, to be served consecutively to his sentence in Barron County. Hart is to serve 4 years of initial confinement, followed by 3 years of extended supervision, and was granted 351 days of credit for time already served in confinement.
