CHIPPEWA COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced David Lunemann on convictions stemming from a lengthy investigation into allegations that he posted explicit images along hiking trails and roadways.
Lunemann was arrested in October 2020 in the culmination of an investigation that started in 2016 after over 30 complaints were received about pornographic images and sexually explicit/homophobic notes regarding children being posted on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail system, Hickory Ridge Trails system, horse trails, and other county roadways within Chippewa County.
Following his arrest, Lunemann was placed on a $1,500.00 signature bond with conditions that he has no contact with Spring Street Sports of Chippewa Falls or be in the Chippewa County Forest, State Trails, or any place nature walks may be conducted where minors may be present or use any personal information of another in regard to identity theft.
Criminal charges were filed in December 2020 against Lunemann including 8 counts of Class H Felony Identity Theft-Harm Reputation/Property and 8 counts of Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct.
Lunemann appeared most recently on March 31, 2022, for a hearing regarding his charges and the Court accepted his plea of Guilty to 3 counts of Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. The remaining charges against him were dismissed but read in.
The Hon. James Isaacson ordered a withheld sentence for Lunemann with 24 months of probation. Conditions of probation will require Lunemann to comply with any counseling, and he will be prohibited from entering the Chippewa County Forest or Ice Age National Scientific Reserve.
Online circuit court records also show that Luneman will also be prohibited from having any contact with Spring Street Sports or any of its employees.
