BARRON COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced a 41-year-old man regarding his charges of exposing a child to harmful materials.
DrydenWire.com reported in May 2018 (see below), that Jameck Tolefree, of Chetek, WI, was charged following an investigation into a report that he allegedly provided marijuana to a 13-year-old girl. During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that Tolefree had sent sexually explicit messages and photographs to the girl.
Online circuit court records show that in September 2018, the Court approved a plea deal in which Tolefree plead guilty to reduced charges, lowering his 2 felony counts of Class I Felony Expose Child to Harmful Materials down to 1 count of Misdemeanor Send Obscene Email Messages and 1 count of Misdemeanor Computer Message-Threaten/Obscenity. In addition, Tolefree plead guilty to 1 count of Class H Felony Bail Jumping. A second case charging Tolefree with Class H Felony Bail Jumping was dismissed but read in.
The Court found Tolefree guilty and sentenced him to 2 years probation. THe Court also ordered that Tolefree is to comply with a sex offender evaluation and with any treatment recommended by the Department of Corrections. If Tolefree is revoked from probation, the Court ordered that he receive credit for 135 days served in county jail.
Tolefree was also facing criminal charges in 2 other counties; and although details of those charges are not known to DrydenWire.com, online circuit court records show that Tolefree was convicted of Class F Felony Burglary and Misdemeanor Theft in a Marathon County Circuit Court case with a sentence of 4 years of probation and 20 hours of community service. An additional case filed against Tolefree in Wood County Circuit Court, charging him with 5 counts of Misdemeanor Theft in a Business Setting and 1 count of Felony Bail Jumping is still pending.

Criminal charges of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material have been filed in Barron County Circuit Court against Chetek, WI man Jameck Tolefree, age 41.
A press release (see below) was issued by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department on May 11, 2018, states that Tolefree was taken into custody following an investigation into a report that was received that he had allegedly provided Marijuana to a 13 year old girl. The investigation ultimately revealed that Tolefree had allegedly also sent sexually explicit messages and photographs via text messaging to the girl.
According to a criminal complaint filed against Tolefree in Barron County Circuit Court, investigating officers interviewed the girl and she identified Tolefree from a photograph as the man who had provided her with the marijuana. The girl then showed the officers text messages and photographs that had been allegedly sent to her by Tolefree. These messages contained sexually explicit language and the photographs were of sexual activity.
The criminal complaint goes on to state that Tolefree was taken into custody on May 8, 2018 near the Chetek high school. When investigating officers interviewed Tolefree, he allegedly admitted that he had sent the messages and photographs to the girl. Tolefree also allegedly admitted that he knew the girl was 13 years old and that he should not have sent the messages.
Tolefree is facing charges of two counts of Class I Felony Expose Child to Harmful Materials, and one count of Class H Felony Bail Jump. The maximum penalty for Class I Felony Expose Child to Harmful Materials is 3.5 years imprisonment, $10,000 fine, or both. No criminal charge regarding the marijuana is listed as being filed against Tolefree at this time.
In two separate cases, Tolefree is facing seven counts of Class H Felony Misappropriate ID Info-Obtain Money, Class F Felony Burglary, and Misdemeanor Theft-False Representation in Marathon County Wisconsin Circuit Court, as well as five counts of Misdemeanor Theft -Business Setting and Class H Felony Bail Jump in Wood County Wisconsin Circuit Court. Details of those cases are not known to DrydenWire.com at this time.
Tolefree was placed on a $250 cash bail bond regarding his new Barron County charges and is scheduled to appear next week for a preliminary examination hearing.

On May 8, 2018, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department took Jameck Tolefree, 41 of Chetek, into custody for giving Marijuana to a 13 year old girl and exposing this same girl to harmful sexually explicit material via text messages.
Tolefree was charged with a felony count of exposing a child to harmful material, a felony count of exposing a child to harmful descriptions and a felony count of bail jumping. Tolefree was out on bond from in Marathon County and Wood County with several other felonies.
Tolefree is free on a $250.00 cash bond.
