BARRON COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced Jeremiah Paquin, for his convictions in a child sexual assault case that was filed against him in Barron County Circuit Court in 2019.
DrydenWire published a press release in January 2019 in which law enforcement was seeking the public’s assistance in locating Paquin.
Online circuit court records show that on January 30, 2019, a warrant for Paquin’s arrest was filed. Criminal charges of 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault - Intercourse with Person under 16 - Use/Threat of Force/Violence; Use a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime; Exposing Genitals/Pubic Area/Intimate Parts to a Child were filed against Paquin.
Details of Paquin’s arrest are not known, however, he appeared for a hearing in Barron County Circuit Court on February 12, 2020, and the Court ordered a $50,000 cash bond for Paquin. Paquin remained in the custody of law enforcement until his sentencing hearing on April 29, 2021, according to online court records.
At a hearing in January 2021, Paquin entered pleas of Guilty to a reduced charge of Class C Felony 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of Child; Class C Felony Use a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime; and Class I Felony Exposing Genitals/Pubic Area/Intimate Parts to a Child. The remaining charges filed against him were dismissed but read in.
At his sentencing hearing on April 29, 2021, Paquin received a 25-year sentence for his conviction of Class C Felony 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of Child; 15 years of initial confinement in state prison followed by 10 years of extended supervision.
He received a 20-year sentence for his conviction of Class C Felony Use a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime; 10 years of initial confinement in state prison followed by 10 years of extended supervision.
The Court ordered Paquin to serve these sentences consecutively. He also received a sentence of 3 years and 6 months for his conviction of Class I Felony Exposing Genitals/Pubic Area/Intimate Parts to a Child, to be served concurrently with his other sentences.
Paquin will be required to register as a sex offender for life. Conditions of his extended supervision prohibit Paquin from having contact with any females under the age of 18. Paquin will be prohibited from purchasing, possessing, or using any device with internet capabilities without approval by his parole agent.
Conditions of supervision will also prohibit Paquin from possessing, purchasing, or consuming any alcohol, or entering or being present in any facility whose primary purpose is the sale of alcohol.
The Court ordered Paquin to complete a sex offender/sexual defiance evaluation and follow through with any and all recommendations and to comply with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.
