Man Sentenced For Conspiracy To Commit Sexual Assault Of Child

WASHBURN COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced a man on a conviction of conspiracy to commit sexual assault of a child that was filed against him in Washburn County Circuit Court in June 2020.

DrydenWire previously reported in June 2020, that Aaron Miller and Amanda Nickels had been charged criminally after law enforcement investigated a report that the two had been conspiring to find a juvenile female for Miller to have sexual intercourse with.

A search warrant revealed that Miller and Nickels had numerous online conversations during which Miller asked Nickels to find a juvenile female for him to have sex with. Miller told Nickels that he preferred juvenile females who had not gone through puberty yet.

Investigating officers interviewed Nickels at the Spooner Police Department. According to a criminal complaint filed in Washburn County Circuit Court, Miller told Nickels that he would not travel to visit her until she found a juvenile female for him to have a sexual encounter with.

Miller was charged with Class B Felony Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault, with Intent to Cause Pregnancy to that Person; Class C Felony Conspiracy to Commit Sexual Assault of a Child Under 16 Years of Age, and Class C Felony Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime.

Online circuit court records show that at a hearing on June 28, 2021, the Court sentenced Miller on a conviction for Class C Felony Conspiracy to Commit Sexual Assault of a Child Under 16 Years of Age. The remaining charges against Miller were dismissed but read in at a hearing on June 17, 2021.

The Court ordered a 10-year sentence for Miller; 4 years of initial confinement followed by 6 years of extended supervision. Miller received credit for 420 days already served in confinement. Miller must register as a sex offender; have a psych-sexual evaluation, and he must comply with any conditions set by the Department of Corrections.

DrydenWire previously reported in October 2020, that the Court had found that Nickels was not competent at that time to proceed on the charges filed against her, and ordered a term of commitment for her.

Online circuit court records show that at a hearing in March 2021 the Court found that Nickels was now competent and could proceed with her case.

Amanda Nickels

She is scheduled to appear again in August 2021 regarding her charges of Class B Felony Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Sexual Assault/Great Bodily Harm, and Class C Felony Conspiracy to Commit 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
