Man Indicted In Federal Court On Sawyer Drug Bust

SAWYER COUNTY -- Charges for possession of heroin with intent to deliver that were filed against a man in Sawyer County Circuit Court have now been taken to federal court following an indictment by a grand jury.

DrydenWire previously published a post in June 2021 regarding a traffic stop which led to the discovery of over 270 grams of heroin and felony charges for two people; Matthew Jackson and Keshia Wilmer. The charges were filed following the traffic stop after law enforcement discovered not only heroin, but also a loaded 45 cal. handgun; a pouch containing cocaine which weighed 8.5 grams, baggies holding a total of nearly 4 dozen prescription pills identified as Alprazolam and Diazepam; and multiple items of drug paraphernalia including another digital scale.

Charges filed against Jackson included of Class C Felony Possession With Intent to Deliver Heroin (>50G); Class E Felony Possession With Intent to Deliver Cocaine (>5-15G); two counts of Class H Felony Possession With Intent to Deliver Schedule IV Drugs; Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Misdemeanor Resist Officer - Failure to Stop Vehicle.

On September 22, 2021, DrydenWire published a post from the Department of Justice grand jury indictments against multiple people. The list of those who have been indicted included Matthew Jackson, who has now been charged in federal court with possessing 100 grams or more of heroin with intent to distribute following an indictment by a grand jury. The charges stem from the same date as the charges that were filed against Jackson in Sawyer County Circuit Court.

Online circuit court records show that on September 28, 2021, the Sawyer County District Attorney’s Office advised the Court that a federal warrant had been issued for Matthew Jackson following his federal indictment. Jackson’s circuit court case is now dismissed.

Keshia Wilmer, who was in the vehicle with Jackson, was charged in Sawyer County Circuit Court with Class I Felony Possession of Narcotic Drugs. Online circuit court records indicate that she is scheduled to appear again in circuit court in October 2021 regarding those charges.

No information was listed in online court records at the time of this post to indicate whether Wilmer may also be facing federal charges.
