BURNETT COUNTY -- A 49-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash after his vehicle was struck by another vehicle that allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign near Grantsburg, according to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
(Press Release) -- On July 21, 2018 at approximately 3:40 PM, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a crash at the intersection of County Road Y and Crosstown Rd., east of Grantsburg in Burnett County. A 49 year old male driver was traveling northbound on County Road Y when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle which was eastbound on Crosstown Rd. The crash investigation indicates that the driver of the eastbound vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign on Crosstown Rd.
The 49 year old male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 17 year old female driver of the second vehicle and her 16 year old male passenger were transported to the Burnett County Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
The name of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of family. This crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Assisting agencies included Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, Grantsburg Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance, and Burnett County Medical Examiner.
