Leonard Anderson, 50, of Clear Lake, is being charged with Felony A Attempt 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide and Felony F 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety after an incident over the weekend in Polk County.
According to the Probable Cause (PC) report, authorities responded on April 28, 2018, to a report of a shooting in Clear Lake, Wisconsin at 1:17p in the afternoon.
The reporting party met with a law enforcement officer near the county line in their vehicle. The report states that the law enforcement official could see the rear window of the vehicle was shattered and one bullet hole in the tailgate. The Deputy also stated they could see 3 bullet holes in the right rear quarter panel of the vehicle.
The reporting party said that he went to a residence in Polk County to retrieve his camper. While there, he was backing up to the camper when the male he knows as “Lenny” Anderson (later identified as Leonard Claude Anderson) approached him with a rifle.
The PC report continues to state that while the reporting party was standing on the driver's side of his vehicle when Anderson allegedly discharged his firearm into the vehicle – 3 shots into the rear quarter panel.
Anderson allegedly told the reporting party that he had “5 seconds to get off the property”, stating that he was trespassing.
The reporting party immediately started driving out of the driveway when Anderson allegedly began shooting again. One shot shattered the rear window and another struck the tailgate. One bullet struck the inside visor just above the reporting party's head. The windshield was also struck.
911 was called at that time and the PC report states that the gun was described as a “Camo 22 Rifle with 2 large magazines connected to each other.”
Later on, the Sheriff's Deputy states that while watching the address where this incident occurred, he observed Anderson's vehicle drive away at which time the Deputy stopped the vehicle.
Anderson submitted to a PBT test which registered at a 0.02. Anderson consented to a blood draw at an area hospital and was transported to the Polk County Jail for booking.
A search of the location was conducted and the 22 Rifle and “spent ammo casing” were located.
Online circuit court records show that Anderson is scheduled to make an initial appearance today, April 30, in Polk County Circuit Court on his charges.
