Luther Point Bible Camp Celebrates 70 Years of Summer Camps

Every morning at 8:00 sharp the bell rings at Luther Point Bible Camp signaling the start of another day’s activities.  The campers file into the dining hall and begin their day with breakfast to energize them for the fun activities to come. The smell of bacon and sausage can clear away the sleepiness from almost anyone’s eyes, camp counselors and campers alike.

Luther Point Bible Camp is excited to offer its 70th year of summer camp on Big Wood Lake in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Every year we welcome close to 1,000 summer staff and campers to experience what it means to get away from the hustle and bustle of the day to day and experience fun at every turn. Campers gather together to swim and boat in the lake, fish, play games, have bible studies, worships and campfires not to mention the traditional camper snack: s’mores!

What is unique to Luther Point Bible Camp is the age range of our campers. The majority of our campers fall between 4th and 9th grade.  However, we also offer family camps and grandparent grandchild camp. The largest age range between youngest and oldest campers seen at a single day of camp is over 90 years!

We offer over 20 different programs throughout the summer including: week-long camp, half week camps, single overnight camps, day at camp, outpost and adventure camps, fishing camps, horse camps, grandparent and grandchild camps, week long family camps, weekend family camps, half week family camps and more!

In 2016 Luther Point Bible Camp participated in research through the Effective Camp Research Project (www.effectivecamp.org). Through this research project we began to receive data on how camp impacts people’s lives.  One finding is, “Camp doesn’t end when the week is over, research shows that it has lasting effects. Many campers read their Bible more, pray with their family more, and attend church more.” Camp can have a tremendous impact on people’s lives!

Luther Point Bible Camp runs on a rolling registration, so as long as there are spots still available registration is still open! You can register at www.LutherPoint.org or by calling the camp office: 715-689-2347.

There has been a lot of talk lately about our fellow camp across the lake, Wood Lake Bible Camp. Sadly, after over 80 years of ministry they closed their doors. We mourned for their loss and celebrate the many years of ministry they were able to achieve. Since closing the camp has been sold and there have been different plans put forward about what it might be used for, including an RV park.

Even though Wood Lake Bible Camp has closed Luther Point Bible Camp is still functioning and we are excited to continue to fulfill our purpose and ministry for many more years to come.

As a camp with an adult retreat center we are starting to look beyond what we can offer in the summer and are pleased to offer crafting and quilting retreats four times a year along with hosting a 30-hour famine through World Vision, winter retreats and more.

Please come and visit our website, www.LutherPoint.org, or follow us on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/lutherpoint/, to learn more about what we have to offer both summer camp and the rest of the year!
