SHELL LAKE, WI — Emergency personnel from multiple agencies will converge at Shell Lake School on Friday, March 7, for a large-scale critical incident training exercise designed to enhance coordination and preparedness in real-life emergency situations.

On Friday, March 7, 2025, The Shell Lake Police Department and the Shell Lake School District along with the Shell Lake Fire Department, Washburn County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Spooner Police Department, Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Washburn County Emergency Management, Washburn County Department of Health and Human Services, Shell Lake and Spooner Hospitals, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, North Memorial Ambulance, and the Birchwood Police Department, and countless volunteers, will be conducting a large-scale critical incident scenario training at the Shell Lake School.
This training event will have a large amount of emergency services present. The training event will be an all-day event.
Being that there will be several agencies represented and likely a lot of emergency lights and various sounds of a critical incident, The Shell Lake Police Department is making every effort to notify the public of this event. We would ask that if you see the event taking place, not to be alarmed.
The training event is essential in testing current procedures within each agency and to train cohesiveness should a multi-agency critical incident occur.
A big thank you to all of the agencies involved, volunteers, and the Shell Lake School District for being a major part of this significant training event.
