POLK COUNTY -- February 10th, 2023, was Kinship of Polk County’s annual Snowtubing event at Trollhaugen Outdoor Recreation Area in Dresser, WI. We had over 50 volunteers, youth, and staff attend the event. It was a beautiful evening, and the snow hill was fast. The youth and mentors alike had a wonderful time. Thank you to Trollhaugen who has continued to support Kinship of Polk County through donations, discounts, and hosting events. Our youth are able to experience the outdoors in adventurous ways that are fun and challenging.
Research has shown that introducing a mentor into a young person's life can play a powerful role in preventing drug abuse and youth violence, while greatly enhancing a young person's prospects for leading a fulfilling and successful life. Mentoring programs in communities across the country have waiting lists of young people seeking to be matched with volunteer mentors. If you’ve considered volunteering, why not take the next step? It doesn’t require any special skills… just an ability to listen and to offer friendship, guidance, and encouragement to a young person growing up today. And you’ll be amazed by how much you’ll get out of the experience. Share what you know. Become a mentor.
Join us for our informational meeting on Monday, February 27th at 6:00 pm at East Lincoln Alliance Church in Amery Wisconsin. Come enjoy some soup, hear from current Kinship mentors, and learn more about our program!
