WASHBURN COUNTY -- A jury has found a man guilty of charges including possession of methamphetamine which stemmed from a January 8, 2018 traffic stop in Washburn County.
DrydenWire.com reported on February 8, 2018, that the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit had assisted the Wisconsin State Patrol with a traffic stop which resulted in the seizure of over 15 grams of methamphetamine.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Bradley Malinowski, and he was ultimately arrested, along with his passenger, Dennis Deloye. During the course of the traffic stop, the Washburn County K9 Unit responded to assist, and K9 Onyx alerted on the vehicle.
Law enforcement located a bag containing over 15 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle as well as a scale and a glass smoking device. Another smoking device was discovered while Malinowski was being placed in custody.
A criminal complaint charging Malinowski with Class D Felony Possess with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Operate While Revoked was filed on January 23, 2018.
Online circuit court records show that the case filed against Malinowski was previously scheduled for a jury trial in 2019 and again in 2020 and that Malinowski’s defense counsel changed several times.
On July 15, 2021, a jury trial was held, and according to online court records, the jurors heard testimony from four witnesses. The jury was excused to deliberate shortly after 5:30p, and they returned with their verdict just before 9p.
The jury found Malinowski Guilty of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Operate While Revoked. On his charge of Class D Felony Possess with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.
DrydenWire.com reported in February 2018 that the charges against Deloye, including Class D Felony Possess with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine (>10-50 grams), Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Class H Felony Bail Jump, and Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia, were dismissed by the Court on its own motion.
Online court records show that Malinowski is scheduled to return to court for a sentencing hearing in October 2021 and that he remains subject to a $500 signature bond.
