BARRON COUNTY -- A jury has found Andrew Brunette Guilty of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide for the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Garrett Macone.
DyrdenWire published a post on September 21, 2020, stating that Andrew Brunette, of Rice Lake, WI, had been arrested following a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Chetek, WI.
On September 24, 2020, DrydenWire published an updated post stating that charges of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide had been filed against Brunette.
On September 20, 2020, law enforcement responded to a residence in Chetek, WI, after Dispatch received a call from a woman stating that she had found her son unresponsive outside the residence and that there was blood inside the residence.
The criminal complaint filed against Brunett stated that injuries were found on the head of the deceased, which were consistent with gunshot wounds. Inside the bedroom belonging to the deceased, law enforcement located a large amount of blood spatter. It was determined that the death had occurred inside the residence. The criminal complaint also states that Brunette came to the residence while it was an active crime scene and spoke with investigators on scene. Based upon information discovered by law enforcement, Brunette was taken into custody.
A jury trial regarding the charges filed against Brunette began on November 1, 2021. On November 4, 2021 the Jury returned with a verdict of Guilty and the Court entered a judgment of conviction finding Brunette Guilty of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, according to online circuit court records.
Bail for Brunette was revoked, and he is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2022.
