Josh Schoemann Launches Campaign For Wisconsin Governor

WEST BEND, Wis. – Veteran and Washington Co. Executive Josh Schoemann announced he is running to serve as the next governor of the state of Wisconsin on Sunday.

In a rally at the Elderberry Manor event venue near his home outside West Bend, Schoemann emphasized his lifetime of service in his church, community, the Wisconsin National Guard and as County Executive, and encouraged a reinvestment in service to others for all Wisconsinites.

“The next generation-our kids-can’t afford to build their lives here, let alone their homes. Business owners and entrepreneurs can’t afford to pursue or grow their dreams here,” Schoemann said. “Young families can’t afford to lay down roots here. Our parents and grandparents can’t afford to retire here. Let's reclaim Wisconsin…Forward. Together.”

Schoemann highlighted his successes in Washington County:

  • Property tax collections remained flat over a 12-year span—despite inflation and economic pressures
  • Property tax rates are at their lowest levels since before World War I
  • Broke down bloated bureaucracy and duplicative services, reducing county staff by nearly 25% since coming to the county
  • Eliminated barriers to homeownership by cutting red tape and introducing innovative local reforms
  • Election integrity reforms that increased turnout and improved confidence in elections

Schoemann’s campaign also announced a Schoemann for Governor Grassroots Coalition of more than 35 activists representing all eight Wisconsin Congressional districts. Elected officials in the group include Washington Co. Sheriff Marty Schulteis; Green Lake Co. Sheriff Mark Podoll; Marathon Co. District Attorney Kyle Mayo; Marathon Co. Board Chairman Kurt Gibbs; and Manitowoc Co. Board Chair Kyle Martell.
