The race for Wisconsin Supreme Court has been narrowed down to two following the non-partisan primary election held in Wisconsin on February 21, 2023.
Voters in Wisconsin were able to select one of four candidates with the two receiving the most votes moving on to the primary election in April. The candidates included two left-wing/liberal candidates and two right-wing/conservative candidates. Although it was technically possible, it seemed rather unlikely that two from the same side of an ideological spectrum would advance.
On the right were Waukesha County Court Judge Jennifer Dorow and former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly. On the left are Dane County Court Judge Everett Mitchell and Milwaukee County Court Judge Janet Protasiewicz.
Following Tuesday’s election, the liberal candidate (Milwaukee County Court Judge Janet Protasiewicz) and the conservative candidate (former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly) advanced to the general election which is set to be held on April 4, 2023.
Unofficial Election Results (as of 11:30p Tuesday night) with 95% of the votes in:
- Janet Protasiewicz: 443,834 (46.4%)
- Daniel Kelly: 231,712 (24.2%)
- Jennifer Dorow: 208,414 (21.8%)
- Everett Mitchell: 71,614 (7.5%)
