Press Release
Ladysmith, WI -- Indianhead Community Action Agency’s (ICAA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program has recently expanded to include an additional six counties, bringing the total number of counties served by ICAA to 19 throughout northern Wisconsin. With this latest addition, veterans and their families facing homelessness within the counties of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Marinette, Menomonie, and Oconto are now eligible to receive housing assistance.
SSVF’s goal is to help end veteran homelessness by providing case management and supportive services to low-income Veterans and their families. SSVF prioritizes the delivery of rapid re-housing services to homeless Veteran households. Their additional services include outreach services, peer support services, assistance obtaining VA benefits, temporary financial assistance that is necessary to stabilize housing, transportation services, and childcare services as it relates to stabilizing housing.
“We have been working hard to get these last six counties added to our service area because it means the entire state of Wisconsin now has SSVF coverage for Veterans in need,” says SSVF Case Manager and Health Care Navigator Angela Fox. “We have received calls for veterans in those counties needing help and now we can finally provide them with the services they need to gain stable housing.”
Eligible veterans include those who served in active military, naval, or air services and who were discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. A reservist can also be considered eligible if activated during “war time” or in a “State of Emergency” and deployed out of state.
