LADYSMITH, Wis. / (Press Release) -- Indianhead Community Action Agency, Inc. (ICAA) is excited to announce a generous $2,500 donation from Edina Realty that will be used to provide necessities to Wisconsin’s homeless populations in 19 counties throughout the northern part of the state. Edina Realty’s Foundation is dedicated to supporting organizations that address and prevent future homelessness.
ICAA’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program is on a mission to eradicate veteran homelessness by assisting veterans in finding housing and employment. It is difficult to tell how many homeless veterans there are in the state of Wisconsin, and finding a way to connect with them is even more difficult. This leads the SSVF team to spend time with the homeless population in their outdoor communities exposed to Wisconsin’s harsh elements.
“When you think about homelessness in Wisconsin, you don’t picture large camps of homeless people living underneath bridges and in the woods. But they are there,” says Angela Fox, a SSVF Case Manager. “The hardest part is not being able to help the homeless community members who don’t qualify for our SSVF program. Edina Realty has made it possible for us to make a difference in the lives of every homeless person that we meet. We are finally able to help everyone that we come across and being able to help provide some relief means everything.”
ICAA will partner with Edina Realty’s mission by providing necessities such as warm clothing, food, water, first aid kits, bug spray, and sunscreen to homeless individuals and families throughout their service area. This will provide an opportunity for the SSVF team to refer these individuals to supportive services that can assist them in housing, employment, and regaining their independence.
