Humane Society Of Burnett County: From A Dream To A Reality

HSBC moving all sheltering and adoption operations to new center this week

Humane Society Of Burnett County: From A Dream To A Reality

The Humane Society of Burnett County will officially be moving all dog and cat sheltering and adoption operations from its current location on Midtown Road to the new Peggy Schilling Animal Adoption and Education Center the week of June 17, 2019.

The new facility will almost double HSBC’s capacity to care for stray, surrendered and abandoned dogs; will provide much improved public access to view and interact with shelter dogs and cats; provide a healthier and more efficient work place for staff and volunteers and be energy efficient.  The renovations of the former Baker building were designed by Derrick Capra, Legends Architecture LLC from Hayward WI and the construction manager was Berghammer Builders from Cumberland WI.  Several local subcontractors worked on the project.

The new home of HSBC would not have been possible without the generosity of Hugh Schilling Sr.  The new facility bears the name of his late wife Peggy Schilling in honor of her commitment to community, education and animals. A Grand Opening Open House is planned for Sunday June 23, 11am -2pm to celebrate the new home of HSBC and to thank the many individual, business and municipal donors who provided the additional funds, goods and services needed to complete the project. The public is welcome to join the celebration for tours, refreshments and door prizes.

The Peggy Schilling Animal Adoption and Education Center is located at 7410 County Road D, Webster WI 54893. Mailing address is PO Box 621, Webster WI 54893. The phone number at the Center is 715-349-2368. Email is rescue.hsbc@gmail.com  and website address is https://hsburnettcty.org.  Regular hours will resume Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Office hours are Tuesday – Friday noon to 5 pm and Saturday 11am – 3pm.
