PRICE COUNTY -- A 4-year-old child has died following a house fire in Price County, according to a press release from the Price County Sheriff’s Office.
(Press Release) — Price County Sheriff Brian Schmidt reports that on January 12th at 1:47 p.m. the Price County Sheriff’s Office received a transferred 9-1-1 call from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office. The Town of Ogema resident reported his neighbor’s house was on fire and a child was still inside the residence. Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and were unable to gain access to the residence as it was fully engulfed upon arrival. The victim has been identified as a 4 year old child who lived at the residence. The name of the child is not being released at this time.
The Price County Sheriff’s Office, Ogema, Kennan-Georgetown, Catawba-Harmony, Westboro and Rib Lake Fire Departments responded to the scene along with the Prentice and Rib Lake Ambulance Services, the Price County Law Enforcement Chaplains and the American Red Cross.
The fire remains under investigation by the Price County Sheriff’s Office, the state Fire Marshall’s Office, The Price County Coroner’s Office and the Ogema Fire Department.
