The Polk County Tourism and Promotion Council reminds everyone to “shop locally and lower your taxes." At the same time keep our friends in business and our communities growing.
Polk County is one of many Wisconsin counties that have enacted a .05% sales tax that is used to directly reduce the county property tax levy.
Over the past several years, the amount of sales tax revenue that is subtracted from the Polk County tax levy has been steadily increasing, and several months through 2019 have set record sales tax numbers. Shopping for the Holidays and the rest of the year in Polk County could help reduce your property taxes by almost $3 million.
