High-Speed Chase Ends In Barron County: Stolen Truck Pursued Across State Lines

BARRON COUNTY -- On April 1, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department engaged in a high-speed chase involving a stolen truck from Minnesota, which culminated in Barron County. Collaborating with the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, Cumberland Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Department, and the WI State Patrol, law enforcement successfully apprehended Aaron McNamara, 32, of Forest Lake, who was charged with Fleeing an Officer and is currently held in Barron County Jail.

On Monday, April 1, 2024, at 8:24 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Department reported their deputies were involved in a high speed chase with a stolen truck out of Minnesota headed into Barron County on Hwy 8.

Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Cumberland Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Department and the WI State Patrol proceeded to the area of the chase. The chase entered into Barron County in Turtle Lake on Hwy 8 and continued north on Hwy 63. The chase came to the end at Hwy 63 and 22nd Street when the driver stopped and gave up.

Aaron McNamara, 32, of Forest Lake was taken into custody without incident and is being held in the Barron County Jail on charges of Fleeing an Officer at this time.

The Barron County Sheriff’s Department is working with Washington County MN on this case.
