Hayward Man Arrested For 6th OWI After Traffic Stop In Sawyer County

SAWYER COUNTY — A 63-year-old Hayward man has been arrested for 6th-offense OWI following a traffic stop, according to a press release from the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post.

Carl Jerome, 63 years of age, from Hayward, WI has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 6th offense.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that he observed deviate from its lane of travel and fail to signal a turn. Upon contact with the driver, he observed indicators of impairment. An investigation was conducted including standard field sobriety tests and a warrant was obtained for a legal blood draw. The driver was turned over to staff at the Sawyer County Jail and will be charged with OWI-6th offense.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
