UPDATE: On June 19, 2023, a court hearing was held regarding the felony charges of operating while intoxicated that were filed in Washburn County Circuit Court against Mason Bajanen. Online circuit court records show that during the hearing Washburn County Assistant District Attorney Ness advised the Court that Mr. Bajanen is deceased. The case has now been dismissed.


WASHBURN COUNTY -- Mason Christopher Bajanen, 47 years of age, from Hayward, WI has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense, according to a news release from the WSP.

WSP says that A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a motorcycle for a speed violation on U.S. Highway 53 at Schaub Road on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 10:50p. A subsequent investigation was conducted on the operator of the motorcycle.

The operator was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence 5th offense, operating a motor vehicle while suspended and operating a motorcycle without endorsement.

The operator was transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary test of his blood and then to the Washburn County Jail.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
