Haley’s Comet Donates to Area Birth Centers

Haley’s Comet donated $500 each to Mayo Clinic Health System – Northland’s Family Birth Center in Barron and Lakeview Medical Center Women’s Health Unit in Rice Lake.  The donations will provide services for families suffering pregnancy loss or pregnancy emergencies.

Haley’s Comet hosts an annual family-friendly dinner, free community event, and 1 mile, 5K, or 10K race. The proceeds of the dinner go to fund community donations. The race proceeds sponsor scholarships for Cameron graduates.  This year’s events will be at a new location: the Cameron Elementary School.  A chicken dinner will be held Friday, June 1st from 5-7 pm $8 for 10 yrs and up, $5 for ages 4-9 yrs and under 4 yrs free.  A free pirate-themed adventure will be in the gym with inflatables and games during the dinner culminating in a light and laser show extravaganza. The run will be Saturday, June 2nd with race registration online or at the dinner before the event and from 7:30-8 am the day of the race.

Haley’s Comet events are in honor of Haley Gerber, the daughter of Dave and Patty Gerber of Cameron.  Haley passed away shortly after birth 20 years ago.  Her memory has positively influenced many in our community through ongoing community donations and scholarships.  Join us for Haley’s Comet events on June 1st and 2nd.  For more information go to www.haleyscometrun.com.
