POLK COUNTY -- (DrydenWire.com) -- Felony charges have been filed following a Polk County shooting incident that resulted in injuries to one person.
On January 21, 2022, law enforcement officers responded to the Dresser Food and Liquor Store located in the Village of Dresser, in Polk County, WI, for a report of a shooting. The suspect, later identified as Deshawn Roscoe, had left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Officers found the victim of the shooting in a vehicle at the scene. The victim had sustained what appeared to be a gunshot wound to their leg. The bullet had apparently traveled through the thigh just above the knee.
Officers spoke with the victim and another witness on the scene who stated that text messages had been exchanged between the witness and Roscoe prior to the incident. Roscoe stated that if he saw the victim of the alleged shooting, Roscoe would “blast” him.
When the victim and the witness arrived at the Store, they exited their vehicle. The witness told law enforcement that as they approached Roscoe’s vehicle, they saw a gun in Roscoe’s hand, and then Roscoe fired the gun at the victim.
The witness returned to their vehicle. Roscoe then allegedly approached the witness’ vehicle and said he would kill the witness before leaving the scene in a black Jeep.
The criminal complaint filed against Roscoe also states that a child was at the scene and near the victim when the shooting occurred. Law enforcement recovered a spent 380 shell casing from the ground at the scene.
Two additional witnesses spoke to officers at the scene and stated that they saw a male shoot another male before leaving the area in a black Jeep/SUV. The criminal complaint states that law enforcement retrieved video surveillance footage from the store.
Roscoe was taken into custody a short time later. Online circuit court records show that at a bail bond hearing on January 24, 2022, the Court placed Roscoe on a $100,000 cash bond. Roscoe is charged with Class D Felony First Degree Reckless Injury; Class F Felony First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety; Class G Felony Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety; and Class H Felony Bail Jumping.
In a separate case filed against Roscoe in November 2021 in Polk County Circuit Court, he is charged with Class H Felony Domestic Strangulation and Suffocation and Misdemeanor Domestic Battery and Disorderly Conduct.
Roscoe is scheduled to appear again in February 2022 regarding all his pending criminal charges.
