POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A tragic collision early Wednesday morning on Highway 63 has left one person dead after an SUV crashed into the back of a farm tractor in dense fog conditions.
According the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 5:18a, the Polk County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a crash on Highway 63, just north of the county line near Clear Lake, Wisconsin involving a SUV and farm tractor.
Deputies and EMS responded to the scene and discovered that a northbound SUV struck the back of a northbound farm tractor. Both vehicles were occupied by only the drivers.
At the time of the crash, there was dense fog.
EMS attempted life saving measures on the driver of the SUV, but the driver did not survive, according the Sheriff’s Office. The name of the fatal victim will be released at a later date.
The operator of the farm tractor had minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Assisting the Polk County Sheriff’s Office with this incident was Clear Lake Fire/First Responders, Clear Lake Area Ambulance Service, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Polk County Medical Examiner.
