BARRON COUNTY (DrydenWire) -- A motorcycle vs. car collision on HWY 8 in Barron County has resulted in the death of a 73-year-old man from Barron, WI, according to a press releaes from the Barron County Sheriff's Office.

On Saturday September 2, 2023 at 1:07 pm the Barron County 911 Center took a call of the motorcycle vs car accident on Hwy 8 near County Road O, east of Barron.
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with Barron Fire Department, Marshfield Medical Center Ambulance, Mayo Ambulance, WI State Patrol and Life Link Helicopter all responded to the scene.
Initial investigation shows a vehicle driven by Caryn Becker, 68 of Cameron, pulled out from the stop sign on Hwy O onto Hwy 8 and failed to see a motorcycle driven by Steven Roest, 73 of Barron.
Becker was treated and released at the scene with minor injuries.
Lifesaving measures were conducted on Roest but he passed away from his injuries.
Hwy 8 was closed for 3 hours by the Barron County Hwy Shop and the WI State Patrol is reconstructing the accident scene.

This is Barron County’s 7th traffic fatality on our roads in 2023.
