Fatal Crash Near Menomonie Claims One Life

MENOMONIE, WI – A tragic accident on Sunday, February 25, 2024, claimed the life of one individual and left another injured. The crash, involving a pickup truck and a passenger car, occurred at approximately 12:49 PM on WIS 25 NB/SB at Northline Road in Dunn County, near Menomonie.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Department, Menomonie Police Department, and Menomonie Fire Department responded to the scene to assist. The Wisconsin State Patrol is currently investigating the crash and conducting reconstruction efforts.

According to preliminary reports, the pickup truck, a 2020 Ford F150 driven by Barbara Jean McLennan, 56, from Chetek, WI, was traveling southbound on Highway 25 when it attempted to pass another vehicle by entering the northbound lanes. Tragically, the pickup truck collided head-on with a northbound 1995 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Tony Alan Swanson, 57, from Boyceville, WI.

Mr. Swanson sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. McLennan suffered minor injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic-Red Cedar Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Department has not yet announced any enforcement action pending the completion of the investigation.
