Early Morning Crash On HWY 8 In Polk County Results Two Fatalities

(DrydenWire) -- A two-vehicle crash on HWY 8 in Polk County on Thursday morning has resulted in two fatalities.

Polk County Sheriff Brent Waak says that on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 6:46a, the Polk County Sheriff's Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on HWY 8 near the intersection of 114th Street in the town of Apple River.

Deputies arrived to find that an eastbound Kia passenger car occupied by only the driver, crossed over the center line and struck a westbound Dodge pickup truck also occupied by only the driver.

First responders, ambulance personnel, and an air ambulance arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving measures but were not successful.

Both drivers succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The names of the drivers will be released at a later date.

This crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
