EAU CLAIRE COUNTY — Daniel J. Hegeson, 35, was arrested after he led authorities on a short high-speed chase when he crashed his vehicle in the ditch near the Eau Claire, Dunn County line, according to a press release from the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office.
(Press Release) — On July 9th, 2019 at approximately 7pm an Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling North Buena Vista Road/1010th Street on the Eau Claire/Dunn County line. The Deputy observed a car driving southbound faster than the posted speed limit.
The Deputy turned around in an attempt to stop the car, and when he did so the car accelerated away at a high rate of speed. The Deputy pursued the vehicle for a short distance, then reported that the vehicle had gone into the ditch and overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof.
The driver, 35-year old Daniel J. Helgeson, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and transported to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Further charges are pending.
