BURNETT COUNTY - Authorities executed a search warrant at the residence of James K. Taylor, seeking evidence of poaching activity and discovered a drug house, according to a criminal complaint filed in Burnett County Circuit Court.
On December 27, 2019, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office and Wardens with the Department of Natural Resources executed a search warrant at James K. Taylor’s residence on Oak Road in Rusk Township.
During the execution of that search warrant, authorities discovered evidence of drug activity including glass jars containing suspected marijuana.
A second search warrant was obtained which led to the discovery of numerous items of drug paraphernalia including pipes and a digital scale as well as multiple glass jars and bags containing suspected marijuana and bags containing methamphetamine. Tests were conducted on various items of evidence taken from the residence, and returned positive results for marijuana and methamphetamine.
Law enforcement found Taylor at the residence and took him into custody. A second male was also found at the residence; at the time of this post, no charges were found in online circuit court records against that individual regarding this matter.
Taylor is charged with Class H Felony Possession With Intent to Deliver THC (Tetrahydrocannabinols), Class D Felony Possession With Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Class I Felony Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
At a hearing on December 30, 2019, Taylor was placed on a $2,500 cash bond which was posted the next day, according to online circuit court records.
Taylor made an Initial Appearance regarding his criminal charges on January 8, 2020, and is scheduled to appear again in March 2020.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
