Weekly COVID-19 Update For Area Counties

Weekly COVID-19 update for Barron, Burnett, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, and Washburn counties.

Weekly COVID-19 Update For Area Counties

Editor's Note: This week's update was delayed until today, Saturday, as the Wisconsin DHS website was not updated w/ data yesterday.

Here is this week's COVID-19 update for Barron, Burnett, Polk, Rusk, Sawyer, and Washburn counties. DrydenWire.com publishes this information weekly on Friday afternoons.

We highly recommend visiting the DHS website or your local county's website and/or Facebook page for the most current data and for more information respective to your county.

The information and data below come directly from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and are meant as a snapshot-only for each county.

Editor's Note: Here are the following changes to our format for our now weekly-only updates.

  1. "One Dose of Vaccine" and "Completed Vaccine Series" are now total percentages. What we still have not received verification on is how the J&J vaccine -- which is one dose only -- is reported; does it count as one dose only; completed series only; or both. We are working to determine that information.
  2. "Confirmed Cases" now has two sub-bullet points for the total cumulative as well as the change in the past 7 days. As noted above, we will only be reporting these numbers on Friday's so the "Change Since Last Week" will reflect that change. DHS used to report the "active cases" which is what we would like to include, however, that information no longer appears to be available on their website.
  3. "Confirmed Deaths" shows the cumulative (total) number and the increase since the week before. We are NOT including "probable deaths" in these numbers. It should also be noted that the increase (change since last week) may not be actual new deaths in the past week as some of those changes (additions) may be as the result of previous weeks/months deaths now being determined as covid-related deaths.
  4. We have removed the graph for each county that we previously used as it was creating confusion (it did for us as well) as it included preliminary data that also showed a huge drop off at the end of the graph. We are unable to find a graph for each county that does not include that preliminary data at this time. We like the graph with the blue line (above under Wisconsin info) but that is not available for each county. We will continue to monitor this and will include graphs if/when one becomes available.
  5. We have also removed our area summary section and are focusing just on each county.
