Court Sentences Man On Felony Conviction From Seizure Of 169 Grams Of Meth

BARRON COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The Court has sentenced Marcos Davis for methamphetamine-related convictions in Barron County Circuit Court.

The Turtle Lake Police Department arrested Davis in June 2022 following a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of 169 grams of methamphetamine.

On June 16, 2022, at 9p, an Officer from the Turtle Lake Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple equipment violations, according to a press release sent to DrydenWire.com from Turtle Lake Police Chief, Al Gabe in 2022.

Chief Gabe stated that while conducting the traffic stop, a Barron County Sheriff Dept K-9 Unit did a walk around on the vehicle and the K-9 gave a "positive alert" on the vehicle for drugs.

The officers searched the vehicle and found 169 grams of Methamphetamine along with several drug paraphernalia items, according to the press release.

The driver — and lone occupant of the vehicle — Marcos Jose Davis, 36, of Ramsey, was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine.

“The Turtle Lake Police Department Officers are making a daily effort to get the illegal drugs off the streets of our community,” Chief Gabe said. “This is one example of what they do.”

After many court hearings, Davis appeared most recently on October 17, 2024, in Barron County Circuit Court, while in custody, to be sentenced on the charge of Class C Felony Possess w/Intent-Amphetamine/Methamphetamine/etc. (>50g) that was filed against him. Davis had entered a plea of Guilty at a previous court hearing.

The Hon. Judge James Babler ordered Davis to serve an 8-year prison sentence consecutive to a prison sentence that Davis is already serving on a Minnesota criminal matter.

Davis will serve 4 years of initial confinement followed by 4 years of extended supervision.

Conditions of his supervision on this Wisconsin conviction will require Davis to complete any evaluations, counseling, treatment, and follow-up recommended by the Department of Corrections.
