WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) – The Court has sentenced Stephen Booth, age 42, of Davenport, IA, on convictions from charges filed against him stemming from an undercover Washburn County Sheriff’s Office investigation into suspected computer sex crimes against children. Booth originally received multiple criminal charges including attempting to entice a 14-year-old female to meet with him and engage in sexual activity. Booth reserved a hotel room in Shell Lake, WI for the meeting.
In June 2024, Booth was brought to Washburn County Circuit Court on a 2022 warrant for his arrest that was issued after he failed to appear for a court hearing on the charges against him.
In December 2024, a Washburn County Jury found Booth guilty of Attempt Child Enticement, Causing Child Under 13 to View/Listen to Sexual Activity, and Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime. The Hon. Judge Angeline Winton revoked Booth’s bond and at a hearing on March 10, 2025, he was sentenced.
