POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The Polk County Sheriff’s Office retrieved an Improvised Explosive Device during a routine traffic stop which also resulted in the seizure of Methamphetamine. The Marathon County Bomb Squad assisted with the removal of the explosive device. Two were arrested and charged, Nicholas Carlson, age 43, of Menomonie, WI; and Cory Stanhope, age 30, of Chetek, WI.

Stanhope appeared most recently on November 4, 2024, and the Hon. Judge Jeffery Anderson accepted Stanhope’s plea of guilty to his charge of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

Carlson is set to appear again in December 2024.
