BURNETT COUNTY -- The Court has sentenced a man on convictions of burglary in Burnett County, WI, and ordered him to pay over $10,000 restitution.
DrydenWire previously published a Burnett County Sheriff’s Office press release in April 2020 which stated that Calvin Fish, of Fridley, MN had been apprehended on suspicion of committing burglary.
In June 2020, DrydenWire reported that charges of Class F Felony Burglary of a Building or Dwelling; Class I Felony Possession of Burglarious Tools; Class I Felony Attempt to Flee an Officer; Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property; and 5 counts of Class A Misdemeanor Theft had been filed against Fish.
Numerous battery-operated tools that could be used in the commission of the burglaries were found in Fish’s truck including an angle grinder, a Sawzall, a drill with a heavy duty drill bit, and bolt cutters. A Deputy also found items inside Fish’s truck that were identified as belonging to someone else, according to the criminal complaint filed against Fish.
The Court sentenced Fish on a conviction of Class F Felony Burglary of a Building or Dwelling at a recent hearing in Burnett County Circuit Court. His charges of Class I Felony Possession of Burglarious Tools; Class I Felony Attempt to Flee an Officer; Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property were dismissed and read in. The charges of Class A Misdemeanor Theft were dismissed.
The Court ordered a 4-year sentence for Fish; 2 years of initial confinement in state prison, followed by 2 years of extended supervision. Conditions of extended supervision will require Fish to maintain absolute sobriety; maintain gainful employment; and comply with all programming as requested by the Department of Corrections. Fish will also be prohibited from entering Burnett County for any purpose other than Court or other reasons related to his supervision.
Online circuit court records also indicate that the Court also found that Fish owes over $10,000 in restitution and is to make payments of $200 per month until restitution is paid in full. Cash in the amount of $2,500 that was posted as a bond for Fish was ordered to be applied to restitution immediately.
