BARRON COUNTY -- The Court has accepted Clayton Lauritsen’s plea to an amended charge of Felony Murder in the road rage case that resulted in the death of Lauritz Robertson, of Barron, WI.
Lauritsen was previously charged with Class A Felony 1st Degree Intentional Homicide following a road rage incident that occurred on December 28, 2020. Lauritsen had called Barron County Dispatch, reporting that he had just shot someone.

A criminal complaint filed in Barron County Circuit Court stated that Lauritsen had pursued a vehicle from the City of Rice Lake to the City of Barron, reaching speeds of approximately 140 miles per hour during the pursuit. Once in the City of Barron, Lauritsen had engaged in a confrontation with the other vehicle and discharged a firearm.
The medical examiner’s report confirmed a gunshot wound to be the cause of Robertson’s death.
Charges were filed against Lauritsen for Class A Felony 1st Degree Intentional Homicide which has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
Online circuit court records show that Lauritsen appeared for a court hearing on February 9, 2022, and the Court accepted his plea of Guilty to an amended charge of Felony Murder.
Lauritsen also entered a plea of Guilty to a charge of Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property that was filed against him in December 2021 in a separate Barron County Circuit Court case.
The remaining charges that were filed against Lauritsen were dismissed but read in, including charges of Felony Bail Jumping, Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing, and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct.
Lauritsen is scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing in April 2022.
