Celebrate Local History At The Spooner Library

SPOONER, WI -- You are invited to help celebrate, preserve, and share our local history! We invite you to attend our History Harvest event on Saturday, December 3rd from 5-8pm at the Spooner Memorial Library. We hope that this event will help to bring our community together to reflect on our shared histories and envision a brighter future.

To participate, simply bring an item related to one of our themes to the event (military memorabilia, railroad memorabilia, & family heirlooms or photos). Then, we will take a photo of your item and record audio while you share your story about the item. After the event, we will post the stories online so that the whole community can engage with all of the stories that were shared.

If you are worried that you don't have an object that is "historically significant" we challenge you to see yourself as a part of history. We are all history in the making! You could bring in a photo of your family farm, a medal you received during military service, your grandmother's favorite recipe book, a piece of mail that was delivered by railroad etc. These are all historical treasures, and they help us see how we connect to the people and places around us.

We will enjoy refreshments, share our story, engage in conversation, and learn a bit about other folks in our community. This event is hosted by the Spooner Memorial Library & Wisconsin Humanities Community Powered Initiative.
