BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) -- The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the ongoing search for Ashley L. Janisch, a vulnerable adult who has been missing since July 7th. New information has come to light, indicating Ashley was picked up by a passing motorist shortly after leaving her group home.
According to the investigation, Ashley was last seen at the Budget Host Inn in North Branch, MN, where she was dropped off at 7 p.m. on July 8th. She left the inn on foot in the middle of the night. In an effort to alter her appearance, Ashley has cut her hair short and changed her clothing. She was last known to be wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat, a black t-shirt with writing on it, floral pants, and gloves. Ashley may also be using different names.
Sheriff Tracy Finch urges anyone who has seen Ashley or has information on her whereabouts to contact the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency. An updated photo has been released to assist in the search.

PRESS RELEASE
On July 8, 2024 at 7:45 a.m. Burnett County Dispatch received a call from a group home on New Moon Drive in Meenon Township stating one of their residents had left the home sometime overnight. They checked their cameras and she was seen leaving the home on foot around 9:20 p.m. on July 7th. The camera is infrared so a definitive clothing description is not available, however; it is possible, that she may have a light blue fleece shirt and white crocs on.
The missing person is 22 year old Ashley L. Janisch. Ashley is described as 5’07” tall, approximately 200 pounds with blue eyes and brown curly hair. She has pierced ears and wears red-framed glasses. Ashley has cognitive delays and sometimes jumbles her words. Ashley likes horses and camping. She is under a court ordered placement at the group home.
The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office conducted a neighborhood canvass and looked for any outdoor cameras that may have video footage of Ashley. A law enforcement K9 search was done along with a drone search. A K9 Emergency Response Team was also called in to attempt to track Ashley.
A ground search with Emergency First Responders is being conducted. At this time we are not requesting the public’s assistance with a ground search.
We are requesting the public to check any outbuildings and cameras on their property to see if there are any signs of Ashley.
Ashley has been entered as a missing person in the National Crime Information Center and an Attempt to Locate notification has been sent to law enforcement agencies.

Ashley is known to love horses, and there was a belief she might have been attempting to travel to the Spooner Rodeo, scheduled to take place this weekend. However, it is important to note that she does not know directions and could potentially be anywhere in the region.

Local residents are encouraged to check their properties, including reviewing footage from trail cams or house cameras, for any signs of Ashley. Those willing to assist further are invited to drive around the area to aid in the search.
