BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - The Court has sentenced James Robert Sergi Brown regarding an officer-involved critical firearm incident that occurred in July 2023. Multiple agencies responded to the incident, which began when a firefighter found James lying in a roadway and escalated into shots being fired before James was subdued by multiple officers and taken into custody. No one was struck by the shots that were fired.
A criminal complaint was originally filed shortly after the incident occurred. That court case was dismissed in February 2024 following a motion hearing.
A new complaint was filed in April 2024, charging James with two counts of Class H Felony Intentionally Point Firearm at Law Enforcement Officer; two Counts of Class G Felony Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety; four Counts of Class H Felony Threat to Law Enforcement Officer; three Counts of Class H Felony Attempt Threat to Law Enforcement Officer; and three Counts of Class I Felony Failure to Comply with Officer’s Attempt to Take Person Into Custody.
James was sentenced at a recent court hearing for convictions from this complaint.
