Authorities Respond To Report Of Armed And Suicidal Male After He Starts Residential Fire

BURNETT COUNTY -- Authorities responded to a situation today involving an armed and suicidal person in the Township of Anderson, according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

On 12-11-20 at approximately 11:57am an armed, suicidal male had called dispatch after starting a residence on fire at 20056 Sterling Rd in Anderson Township.

Burnett County Dispatch was able to get the male to put his firearm away and safely approach law enforcement.

At 12:24pm the male was safely placed in custody so local Fire Departments and EMS were able to evaluate the male and tend to the fire.

At this point the structure was fully engulfed in flames.

Because of a quick response from Burnett County Negotiators, Grantsburg Fire, Siren Fire, Cushing Fire, North Ambulance, the Wisconsin DNR, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Deputies, Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies and Polk Burnett Electric.

No other structures were damaged and nobody was hurt.
