RUSK COUNTY — Authorities have released the name of the person that died following a train vs. pedestrian incident on August, 22, 2023 in Rusk County.
The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office stated on Monday that, “Upon further investigation, and family notifications, the subject has been identified as Richard J. Kramer of Catawba, WI.”

Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Rusk County
RUSK COUNTY — A pedestrian was found deceased after authorities responded to a call reporting that a person had been struck by a train, according to a press release from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 at approximately 5:46pm, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office received a 911-call reporting a subject had been struck by a train. The caller advised a subject was on the train tracks at Marshall Road in the Township of Marshall, Rusk County.
Rusk County Sheriff's Deputies, Rusk County Ambulance, Sheldon Fire Department and Canadian National Railroad responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the subject was underneath the train; subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The name of the subject is not being released at this time pending notification of the family.
The incident is still under investigation by the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, Canadian National Railroad and the Rusk County Medical Examiner'sOffice.

This is the 2nd train-vs-pedestrian death this month in Rusk County with the previous being on August 5th.
