BARRON COUNTY — On August 16, a teenager was killed by a falling tree while assisting in a group clean up from a recent storm. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office has now released the name of the 14-year-old boy.
(Press Release) — On Friday afternoon, August 16, 2019 at 3:25pm, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a 14 year old male who was struck in the head by a falling tree that was being cut down by another person. The incident occurred near 7th Avenue and 19th Street, Town of Prairie Lake, Barron County.
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Chetek Fire Department, Chetek Ambulance, Barron County Medical Examiner’s Office, and LifeLink Helicopter responded to the scene.
Initial investigation shows Floyd Lehman, age 14, of Melrose, WI, was part of a group cleaning up downed trees from a recent storm. Lehman died at the scene.

BARRON COUNTY -- A teenager has died in Barron County and law enforcement is currently on scene.
The Barron County Sheriff's Department says that the 'preliminary investigation shows the teen was assisting in storm clean up with a large group of people, when he did not see a tree coming down and it stuck him,' according to a press release from the Sheriff's Department.
(Press Release) -- The Barron County Sheriff's Dept is currently on scene at a residence outside of Chetek investigating a tree that fell on a teenager.
Preliminary investigation shows the teen was assisting in storm clean up with a large group of people, when he did not see a tree coming down and it stuck him.
Life saving measures were attempted but the teen passed away at the scene.
The teen was from out of the area and notification to family has been made.
The Sheriff's Dept was assisted by the Chetek Fire and Ambulance, Life Link Helicopter and the Barron County Medical Examiners Office.
