UPDATE: Ashland Police Release Name Of Deceased Person

The Ashland Police Department has issued the following updated press release in regards to the discovery of a deceased person in Ashland.

Press Release (Update)

The body which was discovered yesterday has been identified. The next of kin have been notified. The Ashland Police Department would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The person discovered deceased was: Bradley J. Mattson, 43 years of age, and had been living in Ashland for the past several years.

The Ashland County Coroner has ordered an autopsy be performed and we will be waiting for those results.

There were no apparent signs of injury to Mr. Mattson and we will continue to investigate this incident.

Press Release

On Thursday, April 2, 2020, at approximately 8:19a.m., the Ashland Police Department received a call from a person who advised they may have discovered a deceased male in a ravine near Industrial Park Rd in Ashland WI. Officers responded and found a deceased person and immediately secured the scene.

The Ashland Police Department has contacted the State of Wisconsin Crime Lab for assistance in processing the scene.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was also requested to provide digital mapping of the area.

Both the WI Crime Lab and WI State Patrol are in route to Ashland to assist with this investigation.

Due to the location of the remains, the scene was secured to provide the WI Crime Lab with an undisturbed scene to process.

At this time the identity, gender, age, and cause of death have not been determined.

This is an active investigation and updates will follow.
